The One-day National Service Scheme (NSS) camp held at Boy's and Girl's School in Sidokar Village, organized by Government Science College, Veraval, was a significant event that brought together various stakeholders and focused on important social issues. On the 19th of March 2024, esteemed guests including Dr. Smita B. Chhag, Principal of Government Science College, Veraval, Mr. Satarbhai Kadarani and Mr. Balubhai Makvana, who are leaders of Sidokar Village, along with Mr. Vajabhai, the Talati Mantri of Sidokar Village, Dr. Chirag M. Gosai, Prof. Government Science College graced the occasion. Also present were Mr. Chhaganbhai Makwana, Principal of Government Boys School, and Mr. Divyesh, Principal of Government Girls School, representing the educational institutions in the region. The event commenced with an inaugural function, setting the tone for the day's activities. NSS volunteers played a pivotal role in raising awareness on diverse topics such as Nashamukti abhiyan (Drug De-addiction campaign), global warming, menstrual cycle, cancer, and cellular biology, through insightful speeches and presentations. This segment aimed to educate and empower the attendees, emphasizing the importance of these issues in contemporary society. As part of promoting holistic development, outdoor games like Kho-kho and cricket were organized, fostering physical activity and team spirit among the participants. These activities not only provided recreational opportunities but also instilled values of sportsmanship and camaraderie among the attendees. An essential aspect of the event was the distribution of sanitary pads to girl students, underscoring the significance of menstrual hygiene and addressing a crucial need in the community. This initiative aimed to break the stigma surrounding menstruation and ensure access to essential hygiene products, promoting the health and well-being of young girls. Throughout the event, Dr. Smita B. Chhag, Principal of Government Science College, Veraval, played a prominent role, garnering appreciation for her leadership and dedication. Her contribution was pivotal in orchestrating a successful and impactful NSS camp, which not only disseminated knowledge but also fostered community engagement and support. Additionally, the NSS Program Officer, Dr. S.G. Chovatiya, deserves special recognition for his diligent efforts and effective coordination, ensuring the smooth execution of the event and the fulfillment of its objectives.
