The Government Science College, Veraval, celebrated World Ocean Day on June 8, 2024, with an online quiz competition by Climate Change Coordinator Ms. Priya Mange and Eco Club Coordinator Mr. Jaydeep Zala.. This event aimed to raise awareness among students about the importance of the oceans, their ecosystems, and the need for sustainable practices to protect them. The online format was chosen due to the summer vacation, ensuring active participation without geographical constraints. Objectives of this events are to educate students about the significance of oceans and the threats they face, To engage students in an interactive and educational activity during their summer break, To promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices among the youth. The celebration was highlighted by an online quiz competition, which saw enthusiastic participation from students across various disciplines. The quiz focused on topics such as marine ecosystems, ocean conservation efforts, and specific details about the world's oceans. Over 37 students registered for the quiz. Topics included oceanography, marine species, pollution, climate change impacts on oceans, and global conservation initiatives.
