On June 14, 2024, World Blood Donor Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and dedication at Government Science College, Veraval. The event was marked by a series of activities designed to promote the importance of blood donation and to educate the community about the genetic disorder thalassemia.The day's activities began with a blood group checking camp organized for both students and staff. This initiative aimed to help participants understand their blood types, an essential step in encouraging future blood donations. The camp saw active participation from 17 students, comprising 6 boys and 11 girls. The initiative underscored the critical role that each individual can play in contributing to life-saving blood banks. Following the camp, a seminar was conducted to further emphasize the importance of blood donation and to raise awareness about thalassemia. The seminar was led by Ms. Mital, an expert from the Government Hospital in Veraval. Ms. Mital's presentation was both informative and engaging, providing in-depth knowledge about the necessity of blood donation and the impact of thalassemia on patients and their families. She highlighted the ongoing need for regular blood donations to support those suffering from various medical conditions, including thalassemia.
