Thalassemia Awareness and Screening Camp

On September 11, 2024, Government Science College Veraval successfully organized a Thalassemia awareness and screening camp for newly enrolled first-year students. The event was held in collaboration with the Gujarat Redcross Society, with financial assistance provided by the CSR body of Indian Rayon, "Janseva Trust," which covered 50% of the screening test expenses. The Chairman of the Redcross Society, Gir Somnath, Mr. Kirit Unadkat, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness about Thalassemia and breaking the stigma associated with the condition. His speech highlighted the significance of early detection and prevention. Additionally, Mr. Apurva Trivedi, a representative of the Janseva Trust, delivered a speech tailored to the occasion, underscoring the organization’s commitment to community welfare. The event saw the participation of 74 students who underwent screening tests. The technical team ensured that hygiene and standard operating procedures (SOPs) were strictly followed throughout the process. Dr. Chiragbal Gosai, the Incharge Principal of the college, delivered a vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of all contributors. Special mention was given to Mr. Pradeepsinh Jadeja and Ms. Kajal Barad for their coordination efforts in ensuring the smooth execution of the event. The camp proved to be a significant step toward promoting awareness of Thalassemia and ensuring the health and well-being of the student community.
